The Vallejo True Metallic Metal series is a sophisticated 4-step system: Base-Light-Shade-Airbrush, with each color available in its respective version. This allows metallic surfaces to be built up step by step: from the opaque base color to targeted lightening and realistic shadows , all the way to the airbrush version for larger areas.
The Light version is a lighter version of the base shade, specifically designed for creating targeted highlights, reflections, or light points. It shares the same color tone as the base version, only with a higher luminosity. This keeps your highlights tonally consistent without slipping into white.
To use Light effectively, you should know how highlights and metallic transitions work. Light is usually used selectively or on edges, such as on protruding surfaces or where light hits intensely. Light is also often mixed with the base version to create smooth transitions without creating harsh edges.
